Leg Hematoma: Symptoms & Treatments

Hematoma is collection of blood outside the blood vessels. So, leg hematoma, or hematoma in leg, is the condition in which the collection of blood is somewhere along the leg. The symptoms and treatments depend on the severity of the condition.

Common Symptoms:

  • Leg pain
  • Leg swelling
  • Difficulty walking
  • Redness around the affected area
  • Tenderness around the affected area
  • Damage to the underlying tissues


  • Rest.
  • Hot baths.
  • Cover the area with ice packs or cold compresses.
  • Medications: pain relievers and antibiotic (if needed).
  • Surgery (when needed).
