Are Beets Recommended for Diabetics?

Q:
Someone said that beets were a natural cure for the diabetes. Is it true? And Is it good to add the beets in my daily diet?

A:
At first, there is no cure for the diabetes.

As for the beets, there are many evidences showing its efficacy in lowering blood pressure, reducing cholesterol, and reducing LDL oxidation.Especially for individuals with type 2 diabetes, beetroot juice improves exercise efficiency and insulin sensitivity. However, as a sugar-containing root vegetable with a medium glycemic index, we should pay more attention to its amounts. Smaller amount is suitable.

In a word, beets are good for the diabetes but we should be careful of its sugar amounts.
