BMR: Calories/day

The calories calculator is used to estimate the daily calories need of a person. 1 pound of body weight, or approximately 0.45 kg, equates to about 3,500 calories. If anyone wants to lose or gain 1 pound in a week,  he or she will need to reduce or increase 3,500 calories for the week, which means reduce or gain 500 calories per day. For example, a female with daily calories need 2,600 calories wants to lose 1 pound in a week, then  she needs to reduce daily calories intake to 2,100 calories, and remain the usual activity level.

An important reminder is that losing more than 2 pounds per week can be unhealthy, and can result in the opposite effect in the near future by reducing metabolism. Because losing more than 2 pounds a week means losing muscle, losing muscle means lowering the BMR, lowering BMR means lowering daily calories need. If a person loses muscle, even he or she has the same calories intake, he or she will gain weight.
