Can a Canine Have Bladder Cancer?

Q:

My dog has frequent urination with small amounts recently. And its color seems not right. Can he get bladder cancer?

A:

Bladder cancer is not a disease for human beings only, some animals can also be diagnosed with it, like canine animals and cats.

Warning signs of bladder cancer in cats and dogs are almost the same with those occur on humans. The symptoms include:

Blood in the urine

Frequent urination in small quantities

Urine retention/inability to urinate

Recurrent infections of the urinary tract

Straining to urinate

You’d better take your dog to a vet’s, as he has some of the above symptoms. The vet will conduct some diagnostic exams on your dog. The disease can be detected by ultrasound, X-ray, cystogram, and biopsy.
