As other diseases, there are many subtypes of hemophilia. Among others, hemophilia A and hemophilia B are the most common ones.

Hemophilia A, also known as classic hemophilia, is the result of the absence or lack of clotting factor VIII.

Hemophilia B, also known as Christmas disease, is caused by the absence or lack of clotting factor IX.

The severity of the disease you develop depends on the types of protein deficiency. Each type can cause mild, moderate or severe consequences.
