Could You Talk About Skin Warts?

Q:
Could you talk about skin warts?

A:
Warts are abnormal skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). This brief guide will talk about some types of warts.

Types of warts include:

  • Flat warts. Teenagers and children are more likely to have flat warts. They usually form on the face and the legs.
  • Plantar warts. They are brown lumps (some are without color) with clotted blood vessels. Plantar warts often develop on the soles of the feet.
  • Genital warts. These are small pink or reddish growths on the genitals. Some of them resemble parts of a cauliflower. Others are also too tiny to see.
