Creatine Kinase Test-Normal Range

Creatine kinase test, also known as CK test, measures the amount of creatine kinase in the blood, thus helping diagnose conditions associated with muscle damage.

Creatine kinase is an enzyme found in the heart, brain, skeletal muscle, and other tissues.

Normal ranges of creatine kinase are as follows:

  • For males, normal levels of creatine kinase range between 38 to 174 units per liter (U/L) of blood.
For females, normal levels of creatine kinase range between 90 to 140 units per liter (U/L) of blood.

If your creatine kinase levels are highly elevated, it may indicate muscle damage or muscular disorders.

Moderately elevated creatine kinase levels appear usually followed by strenuous exercises like weight lifting, contact sports, etc.
