Foods to Avoid for High Triglycerides

Triglycerides are a type of fat (lipid) found in blood. Having a high level of triglycerides in blood will increase the risk of getting heart disease.

People with high triglycerides should avoid eating some foods including:

  • Alcohol
  • Coconut
  • Honey or maple syrup
  • High-fat meats
  • Butter or margarine
  • Starchy veggies such as corn and peas
  • Baked beans with sugar added
  • Canned fish packed in oil
  • Too much pasta, potatoes, or cereals
