Scapulohumeral periarthritis: Common in the middle-aged and the aged, it usually attacks one shoulder with pain and abnormal function of the shoulder joint as the main symptoms.

Clinical manifestations: it could happen with no obvious reason, and according to the newly research, it is related to the level of sexual hormones. Gradually soreness, weakness and disorder of movement in the shoulder at the early stage. As time goes by, the shoulder would be rigid, and even cannot rise up. In the day, it is relieved, but in the night, it is more aggressive that the patient cannot lie by the affected side. Eventually, the deltoid muscle would be atrophied, and the patient is difficult to comb hair or to dress and undress.

Therapeutic Method: relaxing muscles and tendons, dredging the collaterals, releasing adhesion, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain.

Manipulation: you need ask your family member or friend to help you. (they would be the “operator” below).
You should take the supine or sitting position, and the operator should stand or sit to the affected side, and massage on the anterior aspect of the shoulder and the medial aspect of the upper arm back and forth for 3-5 minutes. Then you need change the position. Taking the recumbent position in the lateral side, the operator should hold your elbow of the affected arm, and massage on the lateral aspect of the shoulder and the posterior aspect of the armpit, and get the affected arm lifted and adducted passively. Next, you should take the sitting position, and the operator should massage the points—Jianjing (GB 21), Tianzong (SI 11), Naoshu (SI 10), Jianyu (LI 15), Jianliao (SJ 14), Quchi (LI 11) and Hegu (LI 4), for 5 minutes.

Repeating the above manipulation for 3 times.
