Home Massage for the Constipation

Constipation refers to difficulty in defecation and prolonged interval between every two times of defecation. It is mainly due to dysfunction of the large intestine, which is responsible for too long retention of feces in the intestine. This long retention gets feces over-dried and hard to discharge.

Clinical Manifestations: dry feces; scanty and brown urine; flushed face; fever; distending abdomen; dry mouth; restlessness; frequent belching; fullness in the chest and hypochondria; poor appetite.

Therapeutic Method: clearing away heat from the intestines and promoting the flow of Qi to remove stagnation.

Manipulation: you need ask your family member or friend to help you. (they would be the “operator” below).
You should take the supine position, and the operator should stand at one side of you. First, the operator should massage your abdomen in clockwise for about 5 minutes. Then massage points Tianshu (ST 25), Zhongwan (RN 12), Shenque (RN 8), Qihai (BL 24) for about 2 minutes. Taking the prone position, the operator should massage from your waist to the coccyx for about 2 minutes.

Treatment is given once daily and 6 times of treatment make 1 course.
