Diagnosis
After a thorough medical history and physical exam, your doctor may let you have:

  • Lab tests, such as blood an urine analysis
  • Biopsy – a tissue sample be taken and checked
  • Imaging tests, such as imaging tests

Treatment
There’s no cure for amyloidosis. But treatment can help manage signs and symptoms and limit further production of amyloid protein.

Different types of amyloidosis have its corresponding treatment as follows:

  • Chemotherapy medications and autologous blood stem cell transplant (ASCT) for AL amyloidosis
  • Anti-inflammatory medication for AA amyloidosis
  • Liver transplantation for Hereditary amyloidosis
  • Changing your mode of dialysis or having a kidney transplant for Dialysis-related amyloidosis
