How to Diagnose Lymphoma?

Q:

How to diagnose lymphoma?

A:

Whether a patient has or hasn’t developed lymphoma can be diagnosed through following tests:

  • Physical exam. It is usually the first step your doctor may take. Parts of your body, including swollen lymph nodes, spleen and livers, may be examined.
  • Removing a lymph node or a sample of bone marrow for testing. Your doctor may recommend this procedure to determine whether lymphoma cells exist and what types are involved.
  • Blood tests. This procedure is to count the number of cells in blood to help your doctor to diagnose.
  • Imaging tests. It is recommended to check whether there are signs of lymphoma in other parts of your body through CT, MRI and positron emission tomography (PET).
