How to Make Homemade Mosquito Spray?

Q:
How to make homemade mosquito spray?

A:
Lots of essential oils are effect in repelling mosquitoes, such as Cedarwood, basil, citronella, lemon, juniper, pine, myrrh, rosemary, palmarosa and rose geranium. These can be used as a single fragrance or combined to your liking.

Here are procedures of making several homemade mosquito sprays:

Essential oils spray
To make the repellent, combine 2½ tsp. of essential oils with 1 cup of grain alcohol (available in your local liquor store). Place both ingredients in a jar and shake to combine. Transfer the mixture to smaller spray bottles.

Pepper spray
You can make pepper spray to repel mosquitoes, too. Boil 2 to 3 cups of water and then add ½ to 2/3 cup of hot peppers (chopped finely). Let the mixture steep for 10 to 20 minutes. Pour this through a sieve to eliminate the pepper pieces. Transfer to a spray bottle and use as needed.

Be careful not to get the mixture in your eyes and avoid spraying directly on plants.

Mist
To make a natural mosquito repelling mist, fill a spray bottle with witch hazel (available in drugstores). Add several drops of lavender oil, peppermint oil or tea tree oil, cap tightly and shake.

Lemongrass spray
To make a lemongrass spray, boil 2 cups of water and add 1 cup of chopped lemongrass. Allow the mixture to steep for one or two hours. Strain through a sieve and place into a spray bottle.
