How to Treat Bladder Cancer with Diet?

Q:

I was diagnosed with bladder cancer yesterday. It is stage I bladder cancer. Is there any diet that helps to cure bladder cancer?

A:

1.    Vitamin E

Some researchers have found that high intake of Vitamin E helps to reduce further risk for people with bladder cancer. A study in 2004 concluded that alpha-tocopherol (a form of vitamin E) can alleviate bladder cancer. You should take fruits and vegetables with high Vitamin E, such as pears, berries, broccoli, and squash.

2.    Selenium

Selenium is a mineral. It carries antioxidant properties to avoid cell damage. So having food full of selenium should be helpful for bladder cancer patients. Brazil nuts, walnuts, and oatmeal are all rich in selenium.

3.    No risky foods

During your treatment, you should not take any risky food that may influence the effect of drugs or may even worsen your condition. Alcohol, fatty foods and snacks are what you must delete on your diet list.
