Is Lymphoma Cancer Treatable?

Q:

My mother was recently diagnosed with lymphoma? Is it treatable?

A:

Although lymphoma is the most common type in all blood cancers and can occur at any age, it is very treatable, especially Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Hodgkin’s lymphoma is regarded as the most treatable cancer and its 5-year and 10-year survival rates are 85% and 80% respectively. As for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the 5-year and 10-year survival rates are 69% and 59% respectively.

The prognosis of lymphoma depends on the type and stage of the disease your mother develops. Therefore, talk to her doctor for comprehensive tests and better treatments. The disease is more treatable if it is diagnosed earlier.
