Anorectal abscess, also known as anal/rectal abscess, or perianal/perirectal abscess, refers to the abscess adjacent to the anus. It is often caused by an infection at one of the anal sinuses.

Anorectal abscess may cause other diseases such as diabetes mellitus and Crohn’s disease. Its possible signs include dull pain, fever, chills, constipation, drainage from the rectum.
