Uncontrolled Defecating in COPD Patients

Q:

When a COPD patient starts to defecate himself, does it mean he’s in the final stage? I’m worried.

A:

A simple answer is NO. So no worry.

Advanced COPD patients could lack oxygen by normal breathing, carbon dioxide may stay inside of the body and cause carbon dioxide retention. Too much carbon dioxide cause carbon dioxide anesthesia, which then affects the central nervous, that’s how uncontrolled defecating occurs.

To improve it’s necessary to lower the level of carbon dioxide in the body of the patients. When you consult your local health provider, they will be able to help.
