What Are the Causes of Blood in Urine?


I found the color of my urine is not normal yesterday. It’s hard to describe. The color is between yellow and red. Maybe I got blood in the urine. What are the causes of blood in urine?


Blood in urine is also called hematuria. There are various causes of it:

Kidney stones

Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Interstitial cystitis

Both acute and chronic kidney diseases, such as kidney infections and kidney stones

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate)

Bladder cancer, kidney cancer, and prostate cancer (a tumor in the bladder, kidney or prostate)

Medication that thins the blood, including aspirin and heparin

Sexually transmitted infections associated with the formation of open ulcers

Injury to any part of the urinary tract, such as sports trauma and auto accidents

Vigorous exercise
