Q:

What are the early signs of lymphoma?

A:

The early or warning signs of lymphoma tend to be subtle and patients usually don’t feel pain. Therefore, it may take some time or even years to notice. However, the patients do have some non-specific signs which may occur in many other diseases.

In addition to swelling, patients can feel other discomfort, such as night sweats, chills or fevers, unexpected weight loss, loss of appetite, tiredness, rash, coughing, difficulties in breathing, enlarged tonsils, or headaches. Besides, the incidence of these signs also vary in different genders. For example, women around the time of menopause are more likely to experience night sweats and hot flashes. Since these signs are non-specific, it is important to consult your doctor and undergo comprehensive tests, including a biopsy, blood tests, x-rays, and a bone marrow tests.
