What Are the Symptoms of Cervical Cancer?

Q:

I am 55. My vagina bleeds after menopause. It began bleeding 3 days ago. Could it be cervical cancer? What are other symptoms of the cancer?

Early on, cervical cancer may not produce any signs. But more advanced cervical cancer can cause some obvious symptoms.

As the cancer develops, the following signs begin to appear.

Vaginal bleeding. It is not like normal bleeding during your periods. It refers to abnormal vaginal bleeding between menstrual periods, after menopause, or after intercourse.

Pain. Pain during intercourse, pelvic pain and lower abdominal pain.

Abnormal vaginal discharge. The person with cervical cancer may have watery, bloody vaginal discharge, which could be heavy and have a foul odor.

An irregular menstrual cycle. There is a sudden change in your menstrual period that cannot be explained.
