In addition to the signs and symptoms of preeclampsia, such as hypertension and proteinuria, women with eclampsia have seizures. Other symptoms may include:

  • Long-lasting (persistent) headaches
  • Blurry vision
  • Photophobia (i.e. bright light causes discomfort)
  • Abdominal pain
  • Altered mental status (confusion)
