What Are the Treatment of Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma?

Q:

What are the treatment of clear cell renal cell carcinoma?

A:

Patients with clear cell renal cell carcinomas (CCRCC), the most common type of renal cell carcinomas, are often treated with immunotherapy and targeted drugs. Such targeted drugs include temsirolimus which is used to prevent blood vessel from growing in tumors.

As for organ-confined CCRCC, the first-line treatment of this type is surgery, combined with nephrectomy. However, this treatment is usually used to treat tumors that are smaller than 4 cm in diameter. The recurrence rate of the treatment is slightly lower than other treatments like cryoablation (5%) and radiofrequency ablation (12%).
