What can we know about comedo?

Comedo is small and dark spots that are caused by a small plug in the opening of a follicle. Comedo falls into two categories: open comedo and closed comedo.

People with comedo may have following symptoms:

  • Open comedo. Blackened. It has a wide opening to the skin and is capped with a blackened mass of skin debris. It is always called blackhead.
  • Closed comedo. It has an obstructed opening to the skin and may rupture to cause skin inflammatory reaction. It is always called whitehead.
