Cellulitis is a serious bacterial skin infection. The affected skin appears swollen and red. It is typically painful and warm to the touch.

Cellulitis can occur anywhere on your body but the most common location is the lower leg. If bacteria enter your leg though the disrupted areas of skin, it may cause cellulitis on legs. For example, you had a surgery, cut, puncture wound on your legs or animal bite or ulcer, dermatitis and so on. Any skin wound or ulcer may be developing cellulitis when it has the sign of inflammation – redness, warmth, swelling, and pain.
