Home Remedy for Hip Pain

Hip pain is common, depending on the area of the pain you may try these home remedy to relieve the pain.

  1. Pain below the hip

The pain comes from the hip line, and on the back side of the thigh. In this case, it’s painful to bend the upper body while legs being upright, sometimes it’s painful even to walk.

The cause of pain on this area is mainly injury to the hamstring ligament. Hamstring ligament is the ligament that connects the hamstrings and pelvis. The injury is often due to over-stretch in the back of the thigh, especially when there is no warm-up. If you tried the forward flexion position too hard when practicing yoga, you will get hurt here.

What to do?

It takes time for the ligament to repair. Avoid stretching forward for a week or two.

 

2. Pain in the upper and outer parts of the hip

The pain comes above or outside of the buttocks, extending to the outside of the legs. It hurts when walking or lying down.

The pain on the lateral side of the hip was mainly due to the weakness of the abductor muscles, causing incorrect position of the pelvis, and leading to the compensation from other muscles.  A series of asymmetrical movement patterns may be the main cause.

What to do?

To practice so as to strengthen the abductor muscles.  One of the exercises you can take is to stand alone, and let one leg open and close.

 

3. Pain in the hip

The pain may be in the middle of the buttocks, under the buttocks, or through the sciatic nerve. There could be numbness and weakness in the legs.

Possible causes to such pain include lumbar disc herniation, vertebral bone spurs, and tight piriformis.

What to do

If it’s lumbar disc or bone spurs, you’ll need to consult your local health provider.

If it’s tight piriformis, try to do stretch and relax your muscle. Yoga and Pilates are both good.
