Achalasia is a rare disease that affects one’ esophagus. The esophagus is the tube carrying food from the throat to the stomach. Achalasia would make this process harder. Consequently, this leads to a backup of food within one’s esophagus. In other words, the swallowing becomes difficult. The cause of achalasia is not clearly known.
