What Is Atypical Cystic Fibrosis?

Q:
What is atypical cystic fibrosis?

A:
Atypical cystic fibrosis is a milder form of the cystic fibrosis disease. People with atypical cystic fibrosis may not have classic symptoms or may have much milder degree symptoms. As a result, atypical cystic fibrosis may not be diagnosed for many years. And there are often fewer hospitalizations for people with atypical cystic fibrosis during childhood.

Over time, some additional symptoms may start to appear, and you may find some pre-existing health problems are caused by cystic fibrosis.
