What Is Breast Cancer Detection?

My family member had breast cancer. I think I need to do something to prevent it. How to do breast cancer detection?

The detection of breast cancer can be divided to several stages. Because of its unnoticeable symptoms, it is important to have regular breast cancer screening. If a mammogram or suspicious symptoms appear, more tests are needed to make a sound diagnosis. If the imaging tests like mammograms or other physical exams suggest that the change may mean breast cancer, a biopsy is the only way to make sure whether it is true. The doctor may suggest that you should undergo other tests, such as chest x-rays, PET scans, bone scans, CT scans, or MRI scans.

It is rare to develop breast cancer during pregnancy, but if there is anything suspicious, ask your doctor right away. During periods, hormonal changes can cause a temporary thickening in the breasts. Therefore, it is better to examine 3-5 days after periods.
