What Is HER2-positive Breast Cancer?

What is her2 positive breast cancer?

HER2-positive breast cancer refers to a breast cancer which is positive for a protein called human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2).

In the pathology report, if HER2 gene amplification or HER2 protein overexpression occur during breast cancers, such cancers are called HER2-positive. Compared to HER2-negative breast cancers, this type seems to grow faster and spread and come back easier.

There are some specific medicines and treatments targeted HER2-positive breast cancers. Normally, only cancers that turn out to be IHC 3+, FISH positive, SPoT-Light HER2 CISH positive, or Inform HER2 Dual ISH positive can be treated by the medicines targeted HER2-positive breast cancers. Besides, although such type can be treated with hormone therapy, it is less sensitive to the therapy.
