Meningococcal meningitis is a serious form of meningitis. It’s life-threatening in about 50% of the cases if not treated. The most affected area is the meningitis belt which starts from Senegal and ends in Ethiopia.

Symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Confusion
  • Stiff neck
  • Headache
  • Vomiting
  • Sensitivity to light

How it spreads:

  • Sneezing
  • Coughing
  • Kissing
  • Smoking

Treatment:
Antibiotics such as ampicillin, penicillinand and ceftriaxone can help treat the disease. Go to the hospital and seek medical help if you suspect you are infected.
