What Is Perimenopause?

Perimenopause, which literally means “around the menopause“, refers to the menopause transition period during which the body makes a transition to menopause.

Perimenopause is also called the menopausal transition, women may start the period at different ages. Some may have perimenopause in their 40s while others may go through the period in their mid-30s.

What are the symptoms of perimenopause?

The possible symptoms of perimenopause include:

  • Irregular periods.
  • Vaginal and bladder problems.
  • Changes of cholesterol levels.
  • Changes in sexual function.
  • Hot flashes and sleep problems.
  • Mood changes such as irritability and depression.
  • Poor appetite.
  • Fatigue.
