What Is the Meaning of Asphyxiation?

Q:
What is the meaning of asphyxiation?

A:
Asphyxiation (also known as Asphyxia) is a condition caused by severe deficiency of oxygen supply to the body. It often arises from abnormal breathing, which can affect people’s tissues and organs, even cause coma or death.

The main cause of asphyxia is constriction or obstruction of airways, such as asthma, laryngospasm, or simple blockage from the presence of foreign materials. Moreover, if someone is in an environment which cannot offer enough oxygen, such as underwater, in a low oxygen atmosphere, excessive smoke, or in a vacuum, he may also get asphyxia.
