What is the survival rate of clear cell renal cell carcinoma?

Q:

What is the survival rate of clear cell renal cell carcinoma? Is it easy to be treated and cured?

A:

Although clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC) is the most common one among other histologic subtypes of renal cell carcinoma, the prognosis of CCRCC tends to be worse than other subtypes. The five-year survival rate of CCRCC is 50%-69%, lower than papillary RCC (67%-87%) and chRCC (78%-87%). However, at metastatic stage, the five-year survival rate dramatically decreased to 10.5%, which turns to be almost the same as other subtypes mentioned above.
