What’s the Treatment for Stroke Caused by AFib?

The doctor may put a clot-busting drug called tPA in the patient’s arm. It may cause him bleeding. If so, aspirin is an alternative.

When the patient is bleeding because of the blood clot, treatment would be different. In this situation, the first goal is to find and control the bleeding. If the patient takes blood thinners, the doctor will take him off them. Once he finds the cause of the stroke, he will work with the patient to lower his chances of another one. For example, the doctor may help him keep his blood pressure in a healthy range.

The patient takes some medicines to sleep through the whole procedure.
