Chagas disease is a contagious and inflammatory disease that is caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, a kind of parasite. Cases are often found in Latin America.

The disease has an acute phase and a chronic phase. Many people don’t feel any symptom until their disease became chronic.

Symptoms of acute phase:

  • Headache
  • Loss of appetite
  • Fatigue
  • Swelling at the area infected
  • Fever
  • Vomiting
  • Rash

Symptoms of chronic phase:

  • Cardiac arrest
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Pain in abdomen
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Constipation
  • Difficulty swallowing
